Category: board game

Duel of Meloch combines two existing games, Scythe and Expeditions. One player uses the Scythe rules and components (including a new faction and player mat found here); the other player uses the Expedition rules (including a new mech, character, and companion found here). The duel takes place in a tight space on a new double-sided map—only 10 locations and 2 lakes—so every turn is crucial.

All existing Scythe factions and player mats (along with most encounter cards) plus all existing Expeditions mechs, characters, and companions (along with most discovery cards) are compatible with Duel of Meloch. Likewise, the components in Duel of Meloch are compatible with Scythe and Expeditions.

Played it three times the first weekend with my partner and we kept switching sides just to see how different the two rule sets feel. The new faction and player mat make the Scythe side feel fresh even if you've logged a hundred hours in the original. Turns out having one player on Expeditions rules

The asymmetric setup is what sold me — one player running Scythe rules against someone on Expeditions makes every match feel lopsided in the best way. The new faction and player mat fit right in with my existing components, no weird color mismatch. We've played four times and nobody's wanted to swit

My group usually argues over which game to play, so getting both Scythe and Expeditions rules in one box settled that fast. The new faction and player mat on the Scythe side actually feel balanced against the Expedition player. We've played it four times already this month.
