These realistic resource tokens replace the wooden tokens in the retail, special edition, and premium versions of Scythe. They include 80 tokens (20 each) for oil, wood, metal, and food, and they're made out of resin and metal (depending on the token).
The oil barrels and metal ingots feel so much better in hand than the plain wooden bits, and the little food crates actually look like something worth hoarding. Twenty of each type is plenty for a full game, and they sit neatly on the faction mats without tipping over.
Swapping out the plain wooden cubes for these was the best upgrade I've made to my copy. The oil and metal pieces have a nice weight to them, and you get a full set of 20 for each resource, so there's plenty for even the biggest maps.
The little cast metal and resin pieces make the board feel way less abstract — the oil barrels actually look like barrels. Twenty of each type means you're never scrambling to swap in substitutes mid-game.
