Apiary: Expanding the Hive adds to the variety of the core game with components all designed to fit inside the original insert and a comprehensive appendix that covers the core game and the expansion. It features a few bigger additions (7 new hive mats, 15 unique frames, and 15 new seed cards), along with a greater variety of tiles and tokens, plus a few updated components.
Everything actually fits in the original insert, which never happens with expansions. The appendix is handy too since it covers the base game and the new stuff in one place.
I was worried an expansion this size would mean rearranging my whole box, but it fits the original insert perfectly. The appendix is genuinely useful too, since it covers both the base game and the new stuff in one place. Way more content than I expected for the price.
Everything slots right into the original insert, which I honestly didn't expect from an expansion this size. Setup barely changed and we were playing within minutes. The extra variety alone justifies it.
